Radius-Based Delivery
Radius rules define a circular delivery zone around your store location. This is the simplest way to set up a delivery area โ specify a distance, and any address within that circle qualifies.
Creating a radius ruleโ
- Go to Delivery Rules
- Click Add Rule
- Select Radius as the rule type
- Set the radius distance (in km or miles)
- The map will preview the coverage area as a circle around your store
Configurationโ
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Center point | Your store location (auto-populated from your location settings) |
| Radius | Maximum distance from the center in km or miles |
| Delivery fee | Fee for deliveries within this radius |
| Minimum order | Minimum cart value to qualify |
Multiple radius zonesโ
Create concentric zones for tiered pricing:
Example: Coffee roaster in Brooklyn
| Zone | Radius | Fee | Speed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Zone 1 | 0โ3 km | Free | Same-day |
| Zone 2 | 3โ8 km | $4.99 | Same-day |
| Zone 3 | 8โ15 km | $9.99 | Next-day |
To set this up, create three separate radius rules with different distances and pricing.
How it works for customersโ
- Customer enters their address in the delivery widget
- Scrollengine calculates the straight-line distance from your store to the address
- The address is matched to the appropriate radius zone
- The corresponding fee and delivery options are displayed
Considerationsโ
- Radius is straight-line distance โ It doesn't account for roads or actual driving distance. A 5 km radius might be a 7 km drive.
- Works best in urban areas โ Where straight-line distance is a reasonable proxy for driving distance
- For irregular areas โ If your delivery zone isn't a clean circle (e.g., you can't cross a highway or river), use Zone / Map-Based Delivery instead
