Zone / Map-Based Delivery

Map-based zones give you complete control over your delivery area shape. Draw custom polygons on a map to define exactly where you deliver โ€” useful when your service area doesn't follow simple radius or zip code boundaries.

When to use map zonesโ€‹

  • Your delivery area is irregular (e.g., follows a river, highway, or municipal boundary)
  • You want to exclude specific neighborhoods within a broader area
  • You need hyper-local zones that don't align with postal codes

Creating a map zoneโ€‹

  1. Go to Delivery Rules
  2. Click Add Rule
  3. Select Map / Zone as the rule type
  4. Use the map drawing tools to outline your delivery area:
    • Click points on the map to create a polygon
    • Close the polygon by clicking the starting point
  5. Name the zone
  6. Configure delivery fees and restrictions

Drawing tipsโ€‹

  • Zoom in for accuracy along tricky boundaries
  • Follow natural boundaries โ€” Roads, rivers, and rail lines make clear zone edges
  • Keep it simple โ€” Use fewer points for a smoother polygon; overly detailed shapes are harder to manage
  • Preview โ€” After drawing, the zone appears as a shaded area on the map

Zone configurationโ€‹

SettingDescription
Zone nameA recognizable label (e.g., "East Side", "Industrial District")
Delivery feeFee applied to orders in this zone
Minimum orderMinimum cart value
Delivery speedSame-day, next-day, or scheduled options available
Time slot overridesOptionally limit which time slots are available in this zone

Multiple map zonesโ€‹

You can create as many map zones as needed. Use them to:

  • Create premium delivery zones near your store with free delivery
  • Define extended zones with higher fees
  • Block out areas you can't serve (e.g., gated communities, restricted access areas)

Editing zonesโ€‹

  1. Go to Delivery Rules and select the map zone
  2. Click Edit Zone to modify the polygon
  3. Drag existing points or add new ones
  4. Save โ€” changes are reflected on the storefront immediately

Combining with other rule typesโ€‹

Map zones work alongside zip code and radius rules. Scrollengine evaluates all rules and applies the most specific match. For example, you might use a radius rule as your general zone and map zones for specific neighborhoods with different pricing.
