Zip Code / Postal Code Rules
Zip code rules let you define your delivery area by listing the postal codes you serve. This is the most straightforward way to control delivery coverage.
Creating a zip code rule
- Go to Delivery Rules in the dashboard
- Click Add Rule
- Select Zip Code / Postal Code as the rule type
- Enter the zip codes you want to serve
Adding zip codes
You can add zip codes in several ways:
- Individual entry — Type each zip code one at a time
- Bulk entry — Paste a comma-separated list of zip codes
- Range — Enter a range (e.g., 10001–10099) to cover a block of sequential codes
Configuring the rule
| Setting | Description |
|---|---|
| Delivery fee | Fee charged for deliveries to these zip codes |
| Minimum order value | Minimum cart total required for delivery to these areas |
| Available delivery methods | Which methods are offered (local delivery, pickup, shipping) |
| Time slot restrictions | Optionally limit available time slots for this zone |
Example setup
A bakery in Manhattan might configure:
| Zone | Zip Codes | Fee | Min Order |
|---|---|---|---|
| Immediate area | 10001, 10002, 10003 | Free | $20 |
| Midtown | 10016, 10017, 10018 | $5 | $30 |
| Extended Manhattan | 10019–10029 | $10 | $50 |
Editing and removing zip codes
- Go to Delivery Rules and select the rule
- Add or remove individual zip codes
- Adjust fees and thresholds as needed
- Save changes — they take effect immediately on your storefront
Tips
- Validate your zip codes — Ensure every zip code you list actually exists in your target area
- Group logically — Create separate rules for zones with different pricing rather than one rule with every zip code
- Test with real addresses — After setup, enter customer addresses in the widget to confirm the correct zone and fee apply
