Moving Orders Between Delivery Types

Sometimes you need to change an order's delivery method after it's been placed — a customer calls to switch from delivery to pickup, or a delivery address turns out to be unreachable.

When to move an order

  • Customer requests a change (delivery to pickup or vice versa)
  • Address is outside your delivery zone (move to shipping)
  • Delivery capacity is full for the selected slot (offer pickup instead)
  • Weather or logistics issues prevent delivery

How to move an order

  1. Go to Orders and find the order
  2. Click to open the order details
  3. Click Move Order (or the delivery method dropdown)
  4. Select the new delivery method
  5. If the new method requires a time slot or address, update those fields
  6. Save

What happens when you move an order

  • The order's delivery method tag is updated in both Scrollengine and Shopify
  • The original time slot is released (if it had capacity limits)
  • A new time slot is reserved (if applicable)
  • The customer is notified of the change (if email notifications are enabled)
  • Route assignments are updated — the order is removed from any existing route

Restrictions

  • You cannot move an order that is already Out for Delivery or Delivered
  • Moving an order does not change the order value or items
  • Delivery fees may need manual adjustment in Shopify if the new method has a different fee

Tips

  • Communicate with the customer before moving their order
  • Check slot availability for the new method before making the switch
  • If moving frequently, review your delivery rules — frequent moves may indicate zone or capacity issues
